Even the Insiders are Faking It
In our previous post we asked the question – Would you Carry a Fake Fendi?
Fake handbags, watches, jewellery and sunglasses are big
business right around the world – reportedly $250 billion a year alone in the
United States.
When it comes to fake fashion is beauty in the eye of the
beholder or if you wear it are you just fooling yourself?
Fashionista published an article this week asking if ‘Fakes
Are Back In Fashion?’
They report even fashion insiders are forgoing the genuine
article (including the often long waiting list) for a quick fashion fake. They
forgo the wait and expense of the real deal for a copy cat that doesn't drain
the budget.
And some of these copy cats are almost as good as the genuine
counterparts – even for trained eyes.
So it begs the question for the fakers – is it the image
that comes with carrying or wearing a designer goods, the way it
makes you feel, the impatience of lining up for the real deal or something else
that drives even those that can afford it - to flaunt the faux.
